Behind The Name

What’s up stud? I’m Kevin, and I’m chock full of Corporate Disdain, aren’t you?

I created this business out of my frustrations of having to put on a different face for my Corporate 9-5, only to be tossed aside because I wasn’t conforming well enough and wasn’t happy enough with the status quo.   Leather crafting began as a side hobby for me to connect with my queer, kinky self as I struggled through some hard times and tried to find a path that felt right.  Still new-ish to living out and proud (coming out of the closet at a ripe 28), the leather community felt special to me, embracing many things that were labeled as shameful or wrong in the straight, religious, suburban communities I was raised in and finally broke out of.  So I decided to try my hand at making one of my own and discovered a creative outlet for a lot of the self expression I’d been keeping bottled up for years. I started off making harnesses and gear for myself and friends for fun as an alternative to the cheap generic harnesses on many of the major marketplaces or super expensive name brand harnesses from the more well known LGBTQ+ kink names.

As I gained more skills and perfected my craft, I decided that I didn’t have to limit myself to only making these things for my friends and chosen family.  This could potentially be my alternative to the corporate 9-5 handcuffs— making leather gear for those who similarly want to embrace their off hours, NSFW side for a far more budget friendly price (and an extra touch of handmade love).  So that’s what this is, a small business made by a queer man fed up with the corporate life to help contribute to the leather community and embrace self expression over capitalistic conformity.

At the end of 2023, when I lost my job after being told I had “corporate disdain” because I wouldn’t work more than 60 hours a week with no raise in pay as I had the previous four years, I decided to take on leather making full-time and use the negativity to make something positive. Hence, corporate disdain was born.

Thank you for taking the time to check out this small queer-owned small business. I am dedicated to handcrafting authentic leather goods that help you see the beauty in your individuality and encourage you to live authentically.
